DIY oatmeal cleanser fail

Did I ever mention that I'm a huge fan of DIY beauty?

Well, but that doesn't mean that everything is good for my skin.... ( ̄∧ ̄) I don't know why homemade never seems to work for me. o(TヘTo)

Saw this beauty tip on Bubz's website a couple of days(?)/weeks(?) ago and I just had to try it out because it looks easy and quickly done.  Besides, I've heard a lot of oatmeal and its beneficial effect before but I never got the chance to actually test it. However, the plan failed right at the beginning - guess why? I didn't have oatmeal at home and it was during a Sunday which means all supermarkets are closed. (▼□▼メ) Lucky me...

Okay, so I bought oatmeal the next day and tried it out in the morning. It was such a MESS and I feared that the oatmeal would clog my sink!! (≧ヘ≦ )

Apart from that my skin was indeed super soft afterwards - it was amazing and I was happy. ヽ(*⌒∇⌒*)ノ

Sounds great? Yes, but sometimes it is just too good to be true!

At first I didn't notice anything weird but after a few days I found out that my skin got a little bit red around my cheeks. I observed this for a couple of days and in the end I was sure that my new oatmeal face wash was causing the red areas! I'm just so glad that it didn't turn out to be some itchy skin rash. Now that I've stopped using oatmeal my skin condition improved and the redness disappeared.

I watched Bubz's video tutorial later on and in my opinion she almost used it like a facial scrub (on a daily basis!!) which I didn't. I gently pressed the oatmeal onto my skin and rolled it from the center of my face to the outer parts. (This is actually the application method of the Dr. Hauschka cleansing cream)

I guess my skin is just too sensitive for all sorts of DIY beauty stuff in general. That was a close shave and I have to be extra careful in the future!!!! ( ̄〜 ̄)

Alverde Lip Balm Peppermint

I'm being honest..... I totally lost count of my lip products. (●~▽~●)

Sometimes I think that I lost my lip balm (I cannot go outside without carrying a lip care product with me) so I buy a new one only to find it in another hand bag later on. Yeah that's why my collection grows bigger from time to time. But they're mostly identical since I like to stick with my favorite brands. (-д-;)

Actually it's pretty convenient to own so many, because there must be one nearby when needed. ( ̄▽ ̄)

One of my current favorite product is definitely the Alverde lip balm. It comes in a plastic pot and contains 7 g. Like the usual I totally forgot the price but I'm sure it was NOT more than 3 EUR.

Color and texture-wise it resembles Vaseline but the smell is completely different. As it contains peppermint oil it smells a bit like chewing gum. I really like the scent because it's not strong and it feels so refreshing after you applied the balm on your lips.

I first tried this out during the cold winter and I find it a little bit hard to apply. However, I don't have this problem right now. At the moment it is very creamy.

The lasting power is average. Usually I put this on before I go to sleep and the next day I'll wake up with moisturized lips. (*⌒3⌒*)

Ingredients
Ricinus Communis Oil*, Rhus Verniciflua Cera, Stearic Acid, Simmondsia Chinensis Cera, Hydrogenated Rapeseed Oil, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Olea Europaea Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter*, Lecithin, Mangifera Indica Seed Oil, Mentha Piperita Oil*, Tocopheryl Acetate, Vegetable Oil, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Limonene**, Linalool**
*ingredients from certified organic agriculture,
**from natural essential oils

What I personally don't like is the container. I'm not a huge fan of potted lip balms in general. It's not hygienic to use your fingers so I won't recommend this on the go. (≧ヘ≦ ) Even at home I'd use a Q-tip to scratch some product to apply on my lips - I'm not using my fingers! (ー△ー;)

Actually I'm not sure if I'll buy this again because one little pot lasts you a long time. I'm using it every evening and as you can see my pot is still more than half-full. (*゚O゚)

Overall it's a pretty cool lip care product if you don't mind the peppermint.

Under the weather

I'm a bit under the weather... and not just today but pretty much since the beginning of the week. (~~_~~)The changes in temperature are seriously driving me nuts, it's constantly changing from hot to super humid, then the rain comes and the next day it's warm again - it's like a loop. How could you not suffer? Also I hate the fact that I cannot take any proper photos because of the bad lighting. The sun disappears like every 2-3 minutes...

The other day I thought I was going to faint at work and I felt so miserable that my boss suggested I should go home earlier. (≧ヘ≦ ) Under normal circumstances I'm a rather healthy person and I'd rarely get ill even during the rainy fall season when everyone else has running noses.(ミ ̄ー ̄ミ)

So I've been staying at home drinking a lot of hot chocolate and Yujacha (유자차/柚子茶) all day long. (≧ω≦)

Alverde Gloss Tube Kirsche

Alverde launched a lot of new products in the last two years and they change their product range almost every season which I'm personally not fond of but this is how reality is. It's all about profit and figures, it is so obvious what is a good selling product and what is not. ( ̄◇ ̄)

When I first bought this lip gloss there were in total 4 shades available and now the cherry flavored one has become the last remaining shade...  It contains 15 ml and I'm pretty sure that I paid around 3,45 EUR back then and now it costs 2,95 EUR so it looks like the price got lowered by 0,50 cents. It's very rare to find price reductions nowadays. (●ゝ∀・●)

It's a gloss that comes in a tube and the packaging really reminds me of the Juicy Tubes by Lancôme. Okay almost 90% tube glosses look alike...

The color is a very nice cherry-red but when applied it has this sheer and clear glossy finish giving your lips a nice reddish tint. I wouldn't classify it as a long lasting lip gloss, probably just average but I personally don't mind that. Always keep in mind that a lip product that is really long lasting may contain something hazardous to our health, after all how can this long lasting level be achieved? I'm not saying it's necessarily the case but it's good to be more sensitive and aware when choosing beauty products in general.

The formula is thick but you won't have any problems with putting it on your lips. After the application it feels rich and moisturizing.

As it contains cherry juice it has this fruity cherry scent. Even the discontinued shades are flavored with the matching fruits. I have the strawberry tube gloss as well and it smells like strawberries. Somehow I regret that I didn't buy the grape and blueberry gloss when I had the chance to but the blueberry was dark purple..

Ingredients
Ricinus Communis Oil*, Lanolin, Brassica Campestris Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer, Rhus Verniciflua Cera, Candelilla Cera, Cera Carnauba*, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Prunus Cerasus Extract*, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis Oil*, Glycine Soja Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter*, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Mica, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Alcohol*, Aqua, CI 75470, CI 77163, CI 77492 Maltodextrin, Parfum**, Benzyl Benzoate**, Benzyl Cinnamate**
*ingredients from certified organic agriculture,
**from natural essential oils

As the usual, Alverde products are 100% certified natural cosmetics. Mine still has the BDIH seal on it but all new producst have the Natrue certification. Actually it's pretty much the same only that Natrue is an international standard whereas BDIH is limited to Germany.

Goddess of harvest doesn't favor me

I've never been particularly interested in gardening and I highly doubt that I'll ever transform into one. However, I don't know what struck me this year since I decided to buy some strawberry seeds. Here are the results. Tadaaaaaaaa~~

Yes, as you can see this is just the plant without the actual fruits! (開花所以結果.... gah!!) Sadly, there will be no strawberries for me and I don't know why. What have I done wrong?  Did I choose the wrong season? That can't be the reason because I did follow the description very carefully and yet this pitiful and nonexistent harvest. Boo me I'M SUCH A LOSER.... (┳Д┳) I can feel that everyone must be laughing at me right now... Being a good farmer in Harvest Moon and Farmville doesn't necessarily improve my gardening skills in real life.

Any tips or tricks?

Maybe I can become a better gardener next year who is able to show off with the best and cutest strawberries in town (not only in virtual life)? Yes, I am already lost in my daydreams.... (>ω<*)

Alverde Hippie Deluxe LE swatches

First of all, I wonder who on earth would give such a stupid name for this collection. It's very embarrassing for me to type this!! (〜O〜;)Sorry, Alverde but your advertising department really needs to do a better job next time!

I bought the duo lip gloss #233 called Stylish Rose and it's a wonderful shimmery plum/nude tone. It contains 7 ml and I paid 2,75 € for it.

A very pretty color isn't it? The only downfall is its scent! Oh boy this is truly the first lip gloss that I have to toss away because of its nasty smell. Sorry, I can't find the right words to describe it but it stinks so badly!! (≧ヘ≦ ) It claims to contain mango essence but I really can't figure out any nice mango scent at all! At first I thought I got a spoiled one but sadly that's not the case they all smell terrible!!! eww! o(≧◇≦)o

Let's move on to the lip and cheek stain. I bought #02 called Happy Pink. Sorry, I don't know the price any longer but it was definitely not more than 4 bucks I paid 3,45 € and it contains 9 ml. Basically it's just the same as Benefit's Benetint only in a natural cosmetics version. It comes with the Natrue label which means it is organic cosmetics with proper certification which you can trust.

The brush really looks like the ones you'd normally use for nail polishes.

I applied quite a lot of product for this swatch.

Blended out.

This time I'm swatching on my lower arm because they're more pale than my hands. lol (・∀・)It's not great pigmented as you can see from the picture below. I applied one coat and this is how it looks like when it's heavily blended out. As you can see, you almost see nothing....

But there's no problem with layering if you want to add more color to your cheeks.

I'm being honest I do find the application a little bit tricky. I only tested it on my arms and the color looks great but at the same time it gets kinda streaky so it may take some time until I get the hang of it when I want to use this on my cheek instead of a powder blush. It is also possible to use this product as a lip stain.

Acutally I'm very suprised that the cheek stain has a much more better scent than the the lip gloss even though both products contain mango essence. Nah! I'm glad because that means only 3 bucks are down the drain instead of 6. lol

Verdict. Forget the lip glosses from this collection because I won't put stinky lip gloss on my lips, any human being with common sense wouldn't do that!! ( ̄ー ̄)On the other hand, the cheek stain is a nice product (for that price!!! even organic!!) which takes some time to master but I'm sure it pays off! Let's hope they'll make it to the permanent range next season so I can add the second color to my collection as well....

Long weekend, finally time for myself

Today's a holiday but sadly it's also the last day of my long weekend... It's been a while since I've felt so relaxed and happy. I did nothing special just hung around at home watching TVB series. *cough* *cough* (≧ω≦) Sometimes it's really nice to have some quality time just for yourself, don't you agree?

Apart from that I also think that I ate too much chocolate... I'm a huge fan of Pocky but sadly we don't have a wide choice.

In Germany they're called "Mikado" which sucks but the taste is the same. lol (*^▽^*) It's the first time that I saw the white chocolate ones so I had to buy them right away. Of course, it's nothing compared to green tea or strawberry flavor but it still made my day. hehe~

When I came home I found this on the table.

Oh my.... It tastes sooo good! Superb! Heavenly!! How can I resist chocolate when it is so yummy?! My guilty pleasure...

My other purchases of the day:

From the Alverde limited edition Hippie Deluxe. I bought the lip gloss (233 Stylish Rose) and the lip and cheek stain in pink (02 Happy Pink). Actually I wanted the darker one as well but they were completely sold old. 。・゚゚・(>д<;)・゚゚・。

Here's a picture that I got from the Alverde facebook site.

As you can see I only bought two items from the collection. A few products used to be in their usual product range that's why I already own one or two shades from the baked eyeshadows and blushes so there's no need for me to check them out. ヽ(ー_ー )ノ

Alverde Handcreme Calendula

How often to you cream your hands?

I know I should do it more than once or twice a day because I wash my hands like a hundred times during the day. (=ω=。) Okay I don't count the times but it's true that I wash them constantly...

It's no surprise that my hands look granny-like, at least I'm shocked to see the sad state they're in!( ̄〜 ̄;)It's about time to do something against it. Don't get me wrong I've been using hand creams all the time but not on a regular basis and I realized I should change this habit. I like buying hand creams, mostly drugstore brands they're cheap that's why I have a lot of them lying around without being used or half-full.

My current favorite is the Alverde Calendula hand cream which costs 1,95€ and contains 75 ml. It's a very reasonable price for an organic product keep that in mind!!! (●^Д^●)

It's moisturizing without being greasy and it gets absorbed super quickly. At first I thought that it's too rich and will take forever to get absorbed but that's not the case - like the L'Occitane shea butter hand cream...

You don't necessarily need to squeeze out so much cream like I did in the photos above. lol (☆▽☆)

Ingredients
Aqua, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Alcohol, Olea Europaea Oil*, Glycine Soja Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter*, Myristyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Cera Alba*, Cellulose, Calendula Officinalis Extract*, Xanthan Gum, Aloe Barbadensis Gel*, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Parfum**, Limonene**, Linalool**, Geraniol**, Eugenol**, Citral**, Citronellol**
* ingredients from certified organic agriculture
** from natural essential oils

I don't know how to describe the smell..... not strong but very Alverde-like. I wouldn't say I love this scent but I'm okay with it. (*・∀-)☆

In conclusion, the Alverde Calendula hand cream is a product that I do recommend for all the ladies (and gentlemen) out there who wish to keep their hands smooth and moisturized. I definitely will repurchase this!!!

Alverde Augencreme Augentrost

Here comes another eye cream review. ( ̄▽ ̄;)

Actually I only bought this Alverde eye cream because my Dr. Hauschka Daily Revitalizing Eye Cream is expensive (retails for around 23€ depending on where you buy it - in the US $51.95) and it's mentioned in the description to use it every morning. It's not stated if you should also use it in the evening that's why I also purchased a cream for the evening as well.  I know it IS a silly reason..... But sometimes you need an excuse to buy new products. *cough* ヾ( ~▽~)ツ

Alverde is a German drugstore natural cosmetic brand and it comes with a BDIH seal which means it is certified natural cosmetics. If you are interested please browse their website for further information. Here are a few things that I took from their site:

The makers of the products marked with the BDIH "Certified Natural Cosmetics" seal use natural raw material such as plant oils, fats and waxes, herbal extracts and essential oils and aromatic materials from controlled biological cultivation or controlled biological wild collection.

Augentrost is eyebright or Euphrasia which helps to reduce eye irritations.

The Alverde eye cream is suitable for all skin types but to be honest I won't recommend this for oily skin types unless your eye area is dry because of its texture. It is a thick white paste and it surprisingly does blend in very well leaving a nice moisturized feeling. In the evening I tend to use creams, especially eye products that are rich but that's just my preference...

Ingredients
Aqua, Zea Mays Germ Oil, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Glycerin, Aloa Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder*, Cera Alba, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter*, Sucrose Distearate, Sorbitan Stearate, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil*, Squalane, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil*, Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract*, Euphrasia Officinalis Extract*, Lupinus Albus Seed Oil, Sucrose Cocoate, Tapioca Starch, Parfum**, Limonene**, Linalool**, Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil Unsaponifiables, Calcium Alginate, Galactoarabinan, Bisabolol
*ingredients from certified organic agriculture
**from natural essential oils

It comes in a plastic tube and contains 15 ml. I'm seriously surprised by its shelf-life of more than 12 months even without any chemical preservation!! The price is fantastic as well, I paid less than 4€ (to be precise 3,75€) for a tube that lasts me for a long while. The smell is neutral, not very strong herbal-scented actually it's the typical Alverde scent which I cannot describe very well...

Sounds pretty nice, doesn't it? (±∀±;) But let's proceed to the bad part now:

This cream isn't a good base for concealer so that's why I cannot use this in the morning as well. My concealer doesn't blend in so it makes my undereye area looks weird. Moreover, I'm not quite sure if everyone likes that rich consistence, some might consider it as too heavy for the delicate eye area or fear that it might cause milia seeds. I don't have this problem, though.

Overall you get a great product for a good price.(・∀<)

I ♥ Farmville = nerd?

Today I have a confession to make. I am a huge farmville fan. (* ̄∇ ̄)

As the time passes I suddenly find myself being a level 106(!!!!!!) farmer. I couldn't believe my own eyes when I saw my level today because it makes me look like a nerd with no friends and no life.

Let's be honest, I'm quite ashamed but yet, I do love this game. I guess I don't need to go too much into the details because everyone should know farmville unless you're living under a rock. Of course I'm fully aware that not everybody likes it so let's all be broadly-minded and don't judge me because I play farmville!! Actually it is such a silly and boring game but it is so addictive. It reminds me of the good old Harvest moon times!

My character wearing a butler costume

My foal collection

My greenhouse and a few trees

Cupcakes!!!
That was so random but I just needed to balance out my day which was not a pleasant one. I still need to get a few things done but I hope that starting next week I can go back to the library and study. *sigh* (・◇・)

Update on life and skincare

Oh my.... It's already June. How time flies!! ( ≧ヘ≦)

I intended to update on a more regular basis but it didn't work out. I blame it on my increased work load AND on my poor time management. Well, let's be honest it's more the latter. o(≧◇≦)o

In my previous entries (1,2) I mentioned that I have dry and sensitive skin. However, I've noticed a few changes on my skin lately. My beloved Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Cream suddenly felt too rich on my skin, even though I had no break outs, yet, I wasn't 100% happy with it any longer. I thought that it will get better sooner or later. But it only got worse....

By the end of April to mid-May my skin was no longer dry but oily (and of course still sensitive)!!!! o(*>д<)o I never knew that your skin type can change sooooo much within a few months!! It's unbelievable!! The thing is that I didn't change anything on my skincare routine at all! I was using the same products that I've been using for a long while. At first I did blame it on the change of weather because I always had a little bit of trouble when it's getting hotter. Under normal circumstances my skin will get used to it very soon but not this time. ( ̄ヘ ̄) It stays oily!! Then I thought it might be a good idea to change my moisturizer - I decided to stay with the Weleda Almond range but this time I bought the soothing facial lotion which is for sensitive combination skin. It worked quite fine for me until the temperatures got up to 20+ degree Celsius. Somehow it changed from combo to oily skin. Even the areas which were normally really dry got oily! I woke up with greasy cheeks!! eww!! (◎ー◎;)

I had break outs and some blackheads which weren't visible but I could feel them. meh... Then I did a lot of wrong things, like doing masks containing tea tree oil. Of course, my sensitive skin wasn't quite so happy... You get the story. Well, to sum up it was horrible and I had a hard time plus the immense work load...(;☆ω☆)

I guess my situation now has improved a LOT. I still get a few pimples here and there but overall the situation has calmed down because I stopped using tons of products which I thought might be helpful. I know it's actually quite simple, you just don't have to put tons and tons of moisturizers and masks, just leave your skin as it is and it will improve on its own. Endure the greasy feeling it eventually will get better. Of course, it's not an overnight process but will take some time before your skin find back its balance. I knew that much, yet, I still made mistakes because I saw what's happening on my face (hello?? I need to go outside with that ugly face of mine...) and all I wanted was improvement no matter what. Deep inside I wanted my old skin back which wasn't perfect but acceptable. I could live with the fact that it was dry so that I can't use any powdery products....

Anyway, the golden rule for next time has to be endurance, endurance and guess what? Yup! Endurance!!! ( ̄▽ ̄;) But then, I've always been a person with zero patience..... *cough* *cough*

Sorry... this post has gotten too long.

But I treated myself to a lot of nice things to make up for the *beep* times I had. lol (●⌒∇⌒●) I know that was very random.... haha...
