DIY facial steam bath

Okay, I know that I wanted to stay away from any DIY beauty treatments after last time's disaster. (≧○≦)

But this recipe has been well-tried by yours truly for a long while without any negative side effect. Actually the Chamomile Steam Facial is absolute classic, cheap and quickly done!

You don't need a lot of stuff, just hot water, a bowl, a towel and dried chamomile flowers. Some people would add essential oils or other herbs but I don't. I prefer it the simple way. Also I don't have a real recipe like how much water or chamomile I add to my bowl...

Sometimes when I run out of dried chamomile flowers - I would use chamomile tea bags instead and it works pretty fine as well.
The only down side is that I'm not diligent enough to do my steam facials once or twice a week as recommended. At best I'll get my weekly treatment every Sunday.... if I don't forget that is. ( o・ω・)o

On another note, I've read somewhere that you should avoid doing steam baths if you're suffering from Rosacea!! If you don't know about this disease please kindly refer to Google search, because Google is your friend. (*・∀-)☆ (And you'll end up seeing pictures that are REALLY gross!!! I did, so I know what I'm talking about..... ugh...) (-д-;)

I got Naked!

The title is pretty much misleading.  (≧∇≦)

I've been eyeing this palette for a very very long time, always pondering whether I should get it or not. In the end, I just couldn't resist.(*TωT)

I guess no one would want to see swatches by now. lol I just can't stop drooling whenever I see this palette in my collection. (* ̄▽ ̄*)

Isn't it pretty? (*・∀-)☆

I'm sorry but the lighting conditions are really bad when the sun is not shining. sigh. o(>皿<)o Any tips to help me to improve the quality of my pictures? I don't think it's my camera, I'm just not a talented photographer to begin with... (〜O〜;)

This is the ultimate proof that I'm not buying organic products only. If I have the chance to get something as good as the Naked palette in an organic version, I'd buy it but sadly there isn't so in the meanwhile I am willing to stick with eyeshadows that probably have the worst ingredients ever.... (oー_ーo)being self-contradictory is my weak point. But then, there are times when you don't need to justify youself as long as you're fine with it. ヾ(▼ー▼キ)ゝ

Me and my Tassimo

Ever since I bought the Tassimo there's this feeling that I'm on the verge of bankruptcy. ( ̄〜 ̄;)

This package came in the other day and I guess this order should last me a long while even when I use Tassimo on a daily basis. ヾ(@~▽~@)ノ

One thing for sure, it's cheaper than going to Starbucks everyday - which I don't do, by the way. (ーヘー;)

My favorites at the moment are Milka hot chocolate and Caramel Macchiato. Too bad there's no English Breakfast or Lady Grey Tea by Twinings. In the meanwhile Earl Grey and Darjeeling will be just fine. However, it's seriously bugging me to know that English Breakfast is available elsewhere but not in Germany. Apparently I was wrong it IS available but when I checked the Tassimo online shop I couldn't find it listed there. However, when I refine my search I can see it? Are they kidding me? It's confusing!! Now it's bugging me even more!! To know that I've missed my chance and have to wait for my next order which will be in *&*@*&Q@$^&^Q@&$&*! years!! (┳Д┳)

Stationary and camera neck strap

Every girl has a soft spot for something and mine is definitely cute stationary. Okay, I admit that I like to address myself as a girl but I'm no longer a girl because I've already hit my X-ties...(TεT;)

hahahaha! Let's forget about the randomness. (* ̄ー ̄*)

It's Tassimo baby~

Yay!! Weekend off. (*д*)

I felt like doing nothing today so I decided to turn off my alarm clock and slept in. (*・∀-)☆ Then I indulged myself in a massage - no, I don't have a personal massager it's just a massage couch.... (-ω-。) Normally I'd think it's a waste of time to spend almost one hour on that couch but today I just felt like I needed that.

Last week my friend told me about a great deal which I couldn't resist! Actually I wanted to save for a nespresso machine but ended up buying the Tassimo instead, it was a real bargain!! (≧ω≦) Since I'm not such a huuuuuge coffee drinker I bought tea and chocolate t discs as well. Today I tried out the Milka and Suchard hot chocolate but to be honest, both tasted the same to me... (*ゝω・´*)

Of course, the Tassimo is not as stylish and pretty as the nespresso but I'm fine with that.

Alverde Gloss & Peeling

First of all, I don't know if it's just me, but I seriously hate all the Denglish words that I encounter on a daily basis. ( ≧ヘ≦) I admit I'm also using Denglish sometimes (I try to avoid using these words whenever I can!!) but I hate to see them printed on beauty products or instruction manuals!!

My all-time favorite is the word peeling, followed by liquid blush! Sounds horrible and pseudo-english to me. I guess native speakers would use the words scrub, exfoliator and cheek stain. You may correct me if I'm wrong!! (´・д・`) Anyway!! Let's move to the product that I want to talk about today~

It's called Alverde Gloss & Peeling and it's a lip gloss/scrub thing. Sounds a bit confusing at first but this product is actually pretty versatile, a perfect allrounder for lazy people like me. (* ̄ω ̄)

It resembles a thick pink milky gloss and contains vanilla and cane sugar for the exfoliating effect. Basically you just have to apply the gloss on your lips and lightly rub. Then use a tissue to wip off the residue. If you want you can also leave it on your lips for a rich and moisturizing feeling.

A tube contains 15 ml and costs 2,95 EUR if I remember correctly. It's a subtle caramell/vanilla scent which doesn't smell artificial and too chemical.

Ricinus Communis Oil*, Lanolin, Brassica Campestris Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer, Rhus Verniciflua Cera, Cera Carnauba*, Candelilla Cera, Sucrose*, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Olea Europaea Oil*, Mica, Simmondsia Chinensis Oil*, Theobroma Cacao Butter*, CI 77891, Glycine Soja Oil*, Vanilla Planifolia Extract*, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter*, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil*, Alcohol*, Aloe Barbadensis Extract, CI 77163, CI 77491, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Parfum**, Limonene**, Geraniol**, Citral**, Linalool**, Benzyl Alcohol**, Citronellol**, Anisyl Alcohol**
* ingredients from certified organic agriculture
** from natural essential oils

I love this product so much but sadly there are some negative aspects that I need to mention. First of all, I purchased mine from the Alverde Chocolate Lips limited edition, it was the debut of this lip gloss/scrub and everyone went crazy to get a hold of this product. There were lots of requests so it became part of the permanent product range very soon with improved formulation. As you can see on my swatches, the gloss contains little black crumbs so I can only use it at home because going outside with little black dots on your lips is sooo sexy and appealing~  (@д@;)

I guess it comes from the vanilla but like I said, the new improved gloss which you can find in the stores now doesn't have this problem. Only the first generation products are affected but still it's a downfall for me. lol

Also, don't expect too much from the exfoliating effect, because it's only a minor one. It's not really helpful when you're suffering from chapped lips. Other than that, it's pretty moisturizing and creamy, my lips feel super smooth and soft when I apply that before I go sleeping. I've been using this for a very long time now. I like to switch between this and the Alverde Lippenbalsam and can't really decide which product I like better because both are great! ヽ(・∀・)ノ

My life in pink

The other day I came up with a funny idea (to entertain myself): Grab all the PINK goods that I could find within a few minutes.(●^д^●)

Don't get the wrong impression, my room is not painted in pink! lol Actually I'm not a huge pink lover to begin with, if I have to choose I'd always prefer purple or lilac but I was still surprised to find so many pink items during a short time.(〃^∇^)

Actually there's also my pink MAC brush cleanser but I couldn't find it so.... forget about it. (*・∀・)

If you want to check your belongings as well, please don't hesitate to let me know how many pink items you have! ☆^▽^☆

Other than that, my weekend was way too short!! σ(TεT;)If I want to get some things done I'll really need to have a better time management. But I've never been a diligent person to begin with.... even though I like to do everything with the utmost care - see, I'm a perfectionist. ヾ( ~▽~)ツ

Sunscreen and KIBIO Organic Skincare

Every summer I'll face the same problem: Sunscreen.

I know, sunscreen is something that I should use on a daily basis throughout the year but up until now I've still not found my holy grail, yet. I find it very difficult to find and choose the correct sunscreen which fits my skin. The market is huge because it's all about $$$ but at the same time, the bigger the choice, the harder it is to choose. (〜▽〜)

I've tried a lot of different brands, some broke me out or they were not suitable for my sensitive skin (causing red patches!!) or I simply didn't like the texture. Needless to say we are all looking for something with high SPF without leaving a whitecast AND it should be non-greasy. Oh and before I forget the most important aspect, the ingredients should be safe. Sorry, I don't want to go too much into the details but there are two different types of suncreen, physical and chemical ones. Of course, if possible I'd like a physical sunscreen without having a strong whitecast. It's quite challenging to find something that fits my demands, I'm fully aware of that... (@o@)

With that in mind I thought it's the best and safest if I look for something organic and natural. I was pretty satisfied with the Dr. Hauschka sunscreen back then but due to the new EU restrictions they were discontinued. Please refer to this article for more details. Ever since then, the quest for my holy grail sunscreen has begun.

For the last two years I've switched back to using chemical sunscreen but I was never satisfied because the rest of my skincare regime consists of organic products. Of course, there are still brands like Sante and Lavera producing suncare products but the textures don't feel good on my skin. They're too thick and heavy, I find the application quite hard. Not to mention that I look like the newest member of the Cullen clan - hello Twilight fans!!.(≧∀≦)

With that being said, I felt truly blessed when I found Kibio. Last week I felt quite extravagant and purchased the Fluide Protecteur Visage UVA/UVB 20, actually I wanted to buy the SPF 30 but it was sold out already!!!!  ( >ω<) Maybe next time?

Anyway, the sales assistant  was such a nice and lovely person, she put tons of samples into my bag as well!!

I'll update on this product later on because I've only tested it for a couple of days and cannot really decide if I should love or hate this product. The first impression is okay. The texture is neither the best nor the worst I've tried.

A new friend

In this post I mentioned that I met a cat at the parking lot near my home. I see him quite frequently and really like to observe his movements because I'm bored and have nothing else to do. ( ̄ー ̄) Sadly I usually don't have my camera with me when I see him.

I've tried to give him treats earlier which he refused. I labeled him Mr. Picky Cat. Of course, why bother to take anything from a stranger like me... (TεT)

I love almost all kinds of animals, so even if I'm not a huge cat person I still like them. Does it make sense? lol Truth to be told, I'm more of a dog fancier but sadly my current life style doesn't allow me to keep one. I don't have time so my poor dog would be alone most of the time and this isn't a nice life. I have a friend who's keeping her dog like that and seriously, I pity her dog! Sometimes I get the impression she's keeping her as a toy and when she's not needed she gets locked in the bathroom...

Actually, I wanted to write about something beauty-related, however, I spent the entire morning reading blogs and commenting, now I've used up all my spare time for the day since I need to work sooo much this week and in the evening I like to engage myself in watching TVB dramas. (・Д・;)

My week in pictures

I seriously don't know how I managed to survive this week but I did. Somehow. (*~∀~*)

Actually I prefer to be busy rather than bored. Plus I had no sleeping problems, I literally couldn't keep my eyes open.... ( ~−ω−~)

This is my week in pictures. When looking at them now I have this distant feeling, like everything happened a long time ago...

I guess I made a new friend.  (=^ω^=) He's a picky fellow. Wanted to be nice and gave him (I guess it's a tom-cat) some treats which I especially bought and guess what? He didn't want it. Okay, I don't blame him I'm a stranger after all.... But a nice and caring one!! (*・∀・)/

Logona Age Protection Hand Cream

I already mentioned that I love buying hand creams, didn't I? However, I still don't cream my hands often enough... *sigh* (=ω=。)

Logona is another brand that produces personal care products based on natural ingredients. Their product range is really huge. They almost have everything including skin care, body care, make up, hair care, products for men and a lot more!

This hand cream is from their Age Protection series made for *cough* mature skin and it claims (taken from their US website):

Age Protection Hand Cream offers protection against development of age spots and skin discolorations caused by sun exposure. Its very rich formulation includes a mineral-based solar shield and ricinus oil, a natural, skin brightening active ingredient. Natural Vitamin E protects the skin from environmental damages. Organically grown almond, olive and jojoba oil, as well as calendula extracts, provide esential hydration, leaving hands noticeably soft and smooth.

Okay, I don't think that this cream is especially rich at best it is a little bit more than average. Does it even make sense? lol ( ̄▽ ̄;)

After application it gets absorbed super quickly, however, the feeling afterwards is a bit weird. It is moisturizing but at the same time it feels a bit sticky in a strange way. You can touch things without leaving any marks but your hands don't feel smooth. I don't like this feeling at all! (±∀±;)

Now moving on to the smell. Wow.... it truly fulfills the stereotype of natural cosmetics! o(≧◇≦)o The fragrance is terrible!! I am used to strong herbal scented products but I dislike the smell so much that I stopped using the Logona Age Protection Hand cream altogether. (;☆ω☆)

Price-wise I paid 10,95 EUR for a tube containing 75 ml.

Logona isn't your typical low-end drugstore brand (like Alverde...) even though it is available in the local drugstore I'd classify it as mid-range.

Aqua (Water), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet) Almond Oil, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides, Tapioca Starch, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Glycerin, Cetearyl Glucoside, Parfum (Essential Oil), Cetearyl Alcohol, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Behenyl Alcohol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Undecylenoyl Phenylalanine, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Lecithin, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract*, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Aluminum Hydroxide, Titanium Dioxide, Zink Oxide, Limonene, Linalool, Geraniol

Sorry, but to me this was a fail. !(◎ー◎;)At this price you can easily purchase a cream that performs better. But I have to say that the quality of the ingredients seem to be higher than from any drugstore brand products.

I guess I'd like this cream better if they could change the formulation so it doesn't feel weird on my hands. The fragrance is another story.... To be fair it doesn't stink but it's not really made for my nose. Whenever I think of the scent I will get goose bumps. lol o((>ω<o))

Again, this is no beauty related post. If you aren't interested to read my daily rant please feel free to skip this post and (hopefully) come back later for beauty posts. (*^o^*)

My weekend was super short so I couldn't relax and now I'm feeling unwell again.... and today's TUESDAY! Basically it happens to me when I don't catch enough sleep. To tell the truth I really have no idea how to survive this week.(×ω×) (・∀・*) But it's bad to know beforehand that I'd end up buying unnecessary things and I'm not really a person who likes to return any goods that I purchased earlier. I know some people won't hold back and would return things without hesitation, you know, customers' right blah blah...(ー○ー)I have a friend who's returning like 50% of her stuff and I don't understand this behavior nor does she tolerate my habit of keeping all my comfort buys... (●ω●)

Also, I've realized that the blogging world has changed a bit. Terms like "flaming" and "identity theft" wasn't something that I'd expect to find in the world wide web. I'm a bit shocked to see what happens when someone gets popular as a beauty blogger on youtube. I don't know but reading comments that are insulting is something that I won't understand. Hiding in front of a computer screen and typing one rude sentence after another - do they really feel so much better after doing this? Don't they understand that doing a make up tutorial takes time and effort to complete and yet, all you (= the creator of a tutorial) get are rude comments about your outer appearance. It is sad. I guess I should stop reading mean comments left on 'popular' youtube beauty channels because I'd lose hope in humankind...

Tea addict

My favorite drink at the moment is definitely 유자차 or 柚子茶!!! ヾ(●⌒∇⌒●)ノ

Even my family make silly jokes about my newest addiction. It all started a few months ago when I was in Toronto visiting my cousin. I've never heard of this type of tea before and the other day I was complaining about having a sore throat and guess what? She made me a cup of 柚子茶 and I totally fell in love with it! My cousin almost successfully talked me into buying a jar and bring it all the way back to Germany but after a second thought - why should I waste my luggage quota just like that. The jar is made of glass and it is huge and heavy. Imagine that it breaks during the transportation - it will be such a mess! We all know about the way our luggage is treated by the airport staff, don't we?

Okay to make the story short, it is obvious that I got my hands on a jar of 柚子茶 back at home as I'm drinking it a lot during the day. (*・∀・) I know it is summer right now but I don't care!!

I mentioned  previously that I wasn't feeling great and feared that I might get ill but I drank 3-5 cups of 柚子茶 daily and I really think it helped! ヾ( ~▽~)ツ Faith can move mountains, I guess.
