Golden accessories

These days I get a lot of nice comments from strangers on my watch and on my ear studs which usually leave me puzzled as I don't know how to deal with compliments in general. └(★o★)┐One lady even told me that I have great style and I felt so uncomfortable, since I couldn't believe that out of all people I would get positive comments about the way I dress etc. Unbelievable... (◎_◎;) So yeah, these are the items that I'm talking about. The watch is from Michael Kors and the ear studs are from a random shop in Hongkong which I had picked up for little money. The quality is really okay, though!! (☆▽☆)

Honestly, when I was younger I didn't like gold as much as I do right now. I thought it doesn't suit me since it tends to give off this old lady feel. haha. (☆o◎)

Okay, I'm now off to lunch with a friend. In case you're wondering, I'm quite active these days as well, it feels like I'm only at home to catch my eight hour sleep. (・∀・) BTW, the other day I bumped into my old boss and she wanted to meet up with me and a few other co-workers for lunch or so.... OMG I don't know if I really want that.. don't get the wrong idea she was really nice and such but still.... the idea feels kinda weird to me. ヽ(-`Д´-)ノ I'm also not a huge fan of business dinners...

Alterra Limited Edition Cherry Blossom

Just wanted to make a quick post since I spotted the newest Alterra limited edition in my drugstore! ヾ(*⌒ヮ⌒*)ゞ
When I first saw the preview on Liv's blog I really wanted to purchase the entire collection!! haha! (☆▽☆) However, when I saw the actual display yesterday I don't know.... I was kinda... underwhelmed to be honest. In the end I only picked up a lip gloss. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

I have mentioned earlier that I absolutely adore anything that has cherry blossom print on it, but this time the packaging couldn't make me buy more things from the collection. haha.

Even though I was in a rush I still managed to include some swatches. (*≧ω≦)

This gloss doesn't contain any shimmer which is a huge plus to me. It leaves a super shiny and glossy finish without being too sticky. However, the downside would be the lasting power. You have to re-apply quite frequently which I personally don't mind too much but I know that some people do care for the lasting time so I figured I need to mention this as well.

Catrice Nail Lacquer#170 I Scream Peach!

Okay, today's confession time! I'm madly in love with nail polishes! It's a fact that I don't like to admit but seeing how my collection grows make me feel incredibly guilty. (。-`ω´-) Actually, I'm kind of hoarding nail polishes as I'm usually too lazy to paint my nails. Sometimes when I feel gloomy/upset/whatever negative emotions I take a look at my colorful paint pots and it will instantly lift up my mood. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ) hehe.

However, since I prefer natural looks all the way, I mostly like to wear nude tones. But then it doesn't mean that I don't purchase more colorful shades. ヽ(*≧ω≦)ノ The other day, I walked out the drugstore with this nice peachy, coral nail polish. Actually, I had wanted to buy turquoise but I think that the color I ended up buying is more wearable for me.

It's called I Scream Peach! #170 and I believe that I paid around EUR 2.50 for one bottle which is soooo cheap and affordable. 。◕‿◕。

And this is how it looks on me. Excuse the sloppy application... I know that I'm not good at painting my nails or anything beauty related. The only thing that I can do perfectly is my eyeliner. haha. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ) ♫・*:.。. .。.:*・

Uhm.... I also apologize for my weird outfit as well, I was wearing my comfy home pants that day. As you can tell comfort is everything to me. hahahaha!! (ーεー)

Relaxing Sunday

Oh boy it feels like it's been ages since I've spent such a nice and relaxing day at home! Yes, at home. The past few weeks, no actually ever since I got back from Hongkong I had been out and about. Now I seriously feel so tired that I think it's about time to rest a bit. Actually, spending my Sunday in solitude isn't so bad as it sounds.(*TωT)

My brother come over to visit me and even helped me to do the laundry as I had posted on FB that I wasn't feeling too well due to hayfever. That was really sweet of him. I guess he wanted to take care of me in place of my mom who's in Hongkong right now. (☆▽☆) He even brought me some chocolate and green tea with lemon flavour. (*・∀-)☆

Speaking of chocolate, the other day I spotted these at the supermarket and of course, I couldn't resist. However, it feels so weird that you encouter limited editions almost everywhere in your daily life.

Come on, what's so special about these M&M's that it deserves to be called limited edition? (☆o◎) Just because of the color selection? It's ridiculous. However, I still bought a pack of it... Epic fail.... (Hey, I was craving for M&M's that day so please bear with me!) (*ω*|||)

Oh and while I'm talking about food, yesterday I met up with a friend and we went to a Japanese restaurant. I had donburi and have tried  納豆 for the first time. ^O^ I wouldn't necessarily call it yummy but it wasn't so bad either.

On the menu it says that the dish is supposd to be sticky. lol It was so true!! My friend had something with clams. Admittedly, I find that her dish looked gross at first sight but it was very yummy indeed!!

Alverde Eyeliner Pencil #07 Blue

Today I want to talk about the Alverde pencil eyeliners, I own a few of these, however, I think they vary a lot quality-wise. I picked the shade 07 in blue to write about, because I couldn't find my purple eyeliner any longer... First of all, I like to mention that I really love the pencil eyeliners from the limited editions, since they're nicely pigmented. Sadly I can't say the same for their regular editions.... I bought a purple and a blue shade, both are kinda hard to work with, plus pigmentation was pretty bad, too. Oh, I even had one in white as well which I originally purchased to use on my waterline, but soon abandoned this idea due to low pigmentation. Overall, pretty disappointing.

My April haul.

In April I was so busy that I forgot to stalk the drugstore. (And yes, I know that it's already May... lol) Under normal circumstances I will pay my favorite drugstore a weekly visit but I had no time to do so.... I usually don't like to do hauling posts (not talking about my HK haul, though) but have decided to show the few items that I bought anyway.

  • A newly released blush brush from Ebelin
  • Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in the shade #25
  • Essence eyebrow gel
  • Catrice Defining Duo Blush #050 Apricot Smoothie
  • Alverde Lipstick #10 Trendy Coral (Limited Edition)

I will let you know how the products are, since I haven't tried out a single item, yet..... However, I'm very curious if the concealer works for me or not. I wanted to repurchase my favorite Maybelline Mineral Concealer, but it was unavailable. Don't know if it's discontinued or simply out of stock. *gulp* The blush brush looks quite nice. It's made of synthetic bristles(?) and feels super soft. I hope it's good even though I don't expect too much from it since it was like 3 EUR or so.

What's inside my make up bag?

Today I want to share the contents of my make up bag. I love reading these kind of entries so I thought it would be nice and about time that I show you what's inside my daily make up bag. However, I must admit that it's been ages since I took these pictures (actually, a very long time before my vacation!) and I removed/exchanged some items etc. Maybe I'll be doing an updated version of this very soon. ^^

First of all, this is my (Devil) Hello Kitty make up pouch which I got from H&M. In fact, I also own two another versions of this pouch, one is in light pink featuring Angel Hello Kitty while the other in hot pink has the Devil Hello Kitty print on it. I especially adore the satin ruffle details. So cute!!! I've decided to use the black one to store my make up and tools since any possible stains wouldn't be as obvious and noticeable as on a pouch that's in a lighter color. (Makes sense, heh?)

I must say that this title is quite misleading since I don't carry this make up pouch with me whenever I go out or so. In fact, these are the only items that I bring with me when I travel or stay at a friends' place. Of course, when I travel I will also have a second bag which is filled with blush/highlighter/powder etc. To be honest, I don't like to go too much into details on the products shown above since I will do an updated version anyways. Basically what you see is mascara, eyeshadow primer, pencil eyeliner, eyebrow pencil (the super antique one from Rimmel which I mentioned in this post...), a gel to fix my eyebrows, highlighter pen, concealer, gel eyeliner, pencil sharpener, Panasonic eyelash curler/comb and my two eyelash curlers. Yes, I carry two eyelash curler with me since my eyes/eyelids are uneven and I find the results way better than just relying on one curler. The Koji eyelash curler works best on my left eye and for my right eye I find that a random eyelash curler (that I picked up from the local drugstore for around 3 EUR) works perfectly fine. I am weird like that.

Hello again and HK haul.

Honestly, I never thought that it would take me so long to be back on track with my regular blogging schedule. (〇Д◎ノ)

However, I have to admit that I've been very busy, too. I usually spend my day offs either with friends (and spending way too much $$$...) or simply stay at home and catch up with my favorite TV dramas just because I didn't watch any series during my stay in Hongkong. (〃ω〃) Also, my brother successfully got me hooked up with the Korean drama "Giant". I mean my brother is most likely the last person who would watch dramas but if I may quote him, he thinks the series is funny/entertaining at first and then very touching and moving towards the end. Actually the only reason why he watched "Giant" is due to nostalgic feelings as the series was being broadcasted in Hongkong during his stay in late November 2011. lol (^∀^*)

Okay, I don't want to waste more time with random blah blah, let's get started with the beauty-related stuff. The picture below shows my HK haul minus another tube of the Fiberwig mascara, the Dollywink felt tip eyeliner, a random eyebrow pencil (forgot the brand) and my Shiseido eyelash curler since the mentioned items are currently all in use, thus in my make up bag...

Oh, I forgot the 'My Beauty Diary' sheet masks.... they're not shown, but I only purchased two packs. I heard so many good things about the masks so I wanted to give these a try and see if they help to improve my skin condition or not. Let's see....

  • Skin 79 Gold BB Cream
  • Skinfood Eyebrow pencil
  • KATE felt tip eyeliner
  • Kiss Me Heroine Volume and Curl mascara
  • Kiss Me Heroine New Impact Frame and Curl mascara
  • Canmake blush
  • Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On
  • Fiberwig mascara
  • KATE pencil eyeliner
  • Eyelash comb
  • Koji eyelash glue
  • fake eyelashes that I picked up at Daiso for 10 HKD each (*≧∀≦*)
Acutally it's not a very big haul even though I had the impression that I'm spending a ton of money at Sasa or Bonjour. lol Apparently I was wrong...

I didn't buy any organic products since Hongkong isn't really a well-known paradise for that. I only spotted Melvita products as they were doing a promotion at Langham Place. Of course, I saw some small shops selling organic food but I wasn't particularly interested in that to be very honest. So instead, I focused myself on Japanese and Korean cosmetic brands since I can't get these in Germany so easily.

I'm back

Hello, long time no see.

Honestly, I had no intention to neglect this blog for over a month but I felt so unmotivated after my holiday. I miss Hongkong so deeply that I can't find the right words to describe how I feel.... (TεT)

Easter holidays came just right in time, because I still haven't unpacked my suitcases until yesterday. Ooops!! Of course, I already had removed my clothes and other daily items, mind you. lol (*/////ー/////*)

Anyways, I want to be back with regular entries starting from this week. (●ゝ∀・●)

Long overdue update

I have to apologize for my long absence, I'm currently in HK enjoying my holiday. (*^◯^*)

I wanted to update earlier, however, I really underestimated everything and started to pack my stuff the night before my actual flight which was a huge fail. lol

Anyway, I'll be back with entries as soon as I got home and have everything settled. Currently I have limited internet access so I rely on 3G only. !(◎_◎;)

Japanese heating pads

For the past few weeks I have been struggling with the sudden cold wave in Germany. As you may have already noticed, I kind of have a love-hate relationship with the heater. Instead, I like to grab a hot water bottle (or two...) and still have it cozy and warm. However, something is  missing when you're facing degrees below zero.(×ω×)

Here, I have to thank Amanda for leaving such a helpful advice in the comment section!! She mentioned something about Japanese heating pads, that's when I suddenly remembered that my uncle left me a plastic bag filled with those heating pads when he visited us last year in January (it was freezing back then)! (-∀-。)

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, basically heat pads are self-adhesive pads which can be put on any part of the body that you want to keep warm. Personally I find this website has a good introduction including instructions and how these work. (Please note that I'm not affiliated to any company when I provide links to other websites!!)

The thing is that you shouldn't be using these while sleeping to prevent skin burns, however, I wear tons of layers these days so..... ☆≡(*≧ε≦*)Please don't do the same foolish things like I do.... Of course, if it's super cold and freezing I do use the heater, though!!

I'm really impressed that the heat is so super long lasting!! ヾ(*´∀`*)ノ I must remind myself to restock on these when I have the chance to.

While I'm already at it, I still have a smaller pack which are suitable for warming your feet! But ever since I splurged on UGG boots I no longer do feel there's a need to put these into my shoes as well. Perhaps I'm saving them for my normal leather boots if I have to dress more classy.

Random#1

I never paid attention to my odd habits until I went through some beauty products that I use frequently....

A jar of cream

MAC fluidline in Dipdown

Maybelline Lasting Drama gel eyeliner in brown

Now honestly I don't know why I like to split the product into two sections and work my way from one side to the other. It's so much easier to start using a product from the top and proceeding downwards.... I believe that's what all most people would do.

If I remember correctly there's a 'what your lipstick says about your personality' chart I wonder if the 'what your cream jar says about your personality' chart exists as well.... (*ゝω・´*)

Zoeva brushes

also known as.... Ärgernis der Woche!

Sorry, I can't think of an appropriate translation of this.(┬┬_┬┬)

I placed an order at Zoeva last week after having eyeing their brushes collection for a very long time. I picked a small angled contour brush and a flat top. Upon arrival of my order I was slightly irritated. I'm just so glad that I didn't order more items. lol Here I must clearly state that I'm in no way trying to bash this company! It's just my personal opinion and if something doesn't live up to my expectations why should keep silent about it? I paid (little money) for these after all.

Finding the right eyebrow tools

via Etude House
Other than paying my brow lady a visit once in a loooooong while I don't really do my brows. Okay, sometimes I'd also use a gel to fix my super stubborn eyebrows if I feell like doing so. During the holidays I was going through my make up bag and rediscovered this little fellow:

Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil

OMG....  I don't remember when I bought this, I believe this eyebrow pencil must be super old. Yuck. And sadly this is the only brow pencil that I've ever used. Of course, I had other ones as well but the colors were never matching and looked weird on me.... I always went back to the Rimmel eyebrow pencil in 004 Black. What I like about this pencil that it also came with a small brush for blending so I don't need to bring an extra brush with me all the time.

I actually wanted to get myself a new one when my brow lady pointed out that black may look too harsh on me. I should get something that's more brownish because it looks more natural instead of choosing of a pencil that is jetblack. If possible I'd rather want to opt for something with natural ingredients but sadly all the brands that I've looked up didn't carry a shade that works for me. The darkest shade was usually too brown-ish for me, mostly on the red side, too. Doesn't look flattering on me at all! (ー△ー;)

Then a friend suggested that I should go for Asian brands since the colors will definitely match better. So I ended up with Etude House as they have a great variety of different colors to choose from. However, I must admit that the color selection was a bit overwhelming. I had absolutely no idea which shade matches me the best... Honestly, what would you do upon seeing this chart?

01 Blackish Brown
02 Grayish Brown
03 Brown
04 Dark Gray
05 Gray
06 Black

Normally, I'd go for dark brown since this is my natural hair color but my eyebrows look more grayish to me so omg.... In the end I bought shade #2.

Etude House Retractable Eyebrow Pencil

What I absolutely love about the Etude House brow pencil is that I don't need both an extra sharpener (since it's retractable) AND brush at all. The bad thing is that 1-2 cm of the actual product broke during my first application. Never mind that, it happened due to my lack of experience. lol ヾ(;☆ω☆)ノ

This is how it looks on me. Excuse the bad quality of my photos, it was late in the evening....

Best deal of the month.

♪\(*^▽^*)/

Something that I picked up the other day when strolling around the drugstore. In Germany you almost never get the good deals such as buy one get one for free so when I spotted this I couldn't leave without buying one pack!! ヽ(*⌒∇⌒*)ノ

I think that a drugstore brand mascara shouldn't cost me more than 13 EUR. I usually don't like to splurge on mascara since I toss them out every 3 months. Of course, I admit that I absolutely love the Diorshow but the price tag of 30 bucks makes me shiver. o(*`ω´*)θ

Also, to be very honest with you, I highly doubt that high-end brands make a huge difference on my lashes at all!! Even the most expensive mascara can't perform wonders if there's nothing! Well, I'm not saying that it's necessarily the same case for you, I'm just talking about me. Sorry, that it sounds rather self-centered..... lol (*/////∇/////*)

But I'm kinda bothered by the washable waterproof formulation. I guess it won't be able to hold the curl. Well, let's see maybe I'm giving the Lash Extension Effect mascara (which I basically got for free) to my friend and only keep the False Lash Effect for myself.

Actually there was another pack available which came with the washable version of the False Lash Effect mascara paired up with an eyeshadow stick or so. Obviously I didn't care for it. (*´∀`*)

On a more random note.... today marks the third day of my confinement and I dearly hope that I'll be able to walk again very soon. It drives me nuts to stay either in bed or lying on the couch. I don't enjoy my days off. o(TヘT o) My doctor said I should come again in 14 days to get the suture removed. Does it mean that I cannot walk properly until then? Hopefully not.ヽ(≧Д≦)ノ (Actually I only took off a week from work....)

Hibernation mode

I'm just so sick of this weather. It is freezing!! (。┰ω┰。)
If anyone is interested, we're having like -11°C or so... Even though I have a warm jacket and warm boots I still detest it being so cold outside. It's like I want to go in hibernation mode, seriously....

I took some days off to recover from my surgery so basically I'm just sitting at home doing nothing. My doctor told me that my right foot needs to rest. I'm glad that the fridge is not empty, I went groceries shopping on Saturday which was such a pain (and financial ruin) since it was extremely crowded everywhere. ugh. Lucky me. o(▼皿▼メ;)o

The only good thing is that I can finally enjoy my Tassimo again! (I had ran out of T-discs for over a month or so...)

Hot (Milka) chocolate with a piece of self-made marble cheesecake. I know it looks not nice but it tastes heavenly which I'm super proud of~~~ (●ゝ∀・●)

Okay and now the icing on the cake comes shortly after.... which is.... tadaaaaaaa~~ (ゝω・´★)

Milka chocolate with Oreo!! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted this on the rack, up until now I thought it was merely a rumor that Milka got paired up with Oreo!!(♡´∀`♡)

Matroschka meets Beauty

What? Another limited edition?

Yes, but an old one from last November/December or so. (〃ω〃) I know that some people would hate me for doing this but somehow I never came around to post pictures of my haul. Call me a retard. (▼ー▼キ) I mean Alverde is already having another LE right now but I don't feel like picking up anything from the current collection which looks like this, btw. >> click here to see the latest collection

via Alverde Facebook page

To be very honest with you the I wasn't very impressed with the Matroschka limited edition, even though I have to admit that I really liked the packaging. Deep down inside me I'm such a packaging junkie that it is almost ridiculous!! (ー△ー;)In the end I've picked up two items.

Omg what is this? Looks creepy!!

Removing the packing.... A kabuki brush!!

This is a kabuki brush with synthetic bristles which is extremely soft. Admittedly, it couldn't enter a contest with its ugly looks but oh well it still does its job pretty well and I wish I had bought two of these.... (〇Д◎ノ) Now let's proceed to the centerpiece of the entire collection! The shimmer powder.

Do you see the little cute figurines?

Close-up shot of the details.
Personally, I hate cardboard packaging because I hate the worn out looks so I have to be extra careful on how to store these particular items. Normally I like to toss everything into a drawer.  (-`Д´-ノ;)

Excuse the extreme dryness on my hands,  it looks very granny-like! Believe it or not I am using hand cream!!(*TωT)Actually, I'm not sure if the shimmer powder shows up in the swatches or not. But it is such an unique piece as it doesn't contain any chunky shimmering particles, in fact it's very subtle and creates more of a nice healthy sheen. Depending on the light conditions I'd even say it's a bit on the frosty side with some light pink glimmer creating a nice pearly effect. But only when you look at it carefully. I mean, sometimes it just look plain white to me, too!! (TεT)

I do not own a lot of highlighters so I think this is a nice addition to my collection. Of course, it's nothing extraordinary, though. What a pity that my skin is super dry at the moment that I cannot use any powdery products at all..... I'm waiting for Spring.... sigh.... ( ̄ヘ ̄)
